Hey guys! My house is FINALLY starting to calm down with from all the commotion going on. Actually, not really! Even though we finished the remaining Dr. appointments and surgery is no longer a first option (that would be 4 for Thai) I feel like our life has been on a whirl wind. But through it all we always prevail.

So as most of you may know my husband has been away since January doing business in Kansas City. Leaving me and the kiddies back home since the kids are in school. Not going to lie, it has been HARD! With little time to talk or FaceTime, the kids and I at most times have just been down right sad.

I in no way shape or form consider myself to be a "single parent" or to live in a "one parent home". My husband is still our provider and I still call and seek his input on just about everything. He is just "away".

I am so excited to write this style piece! I actually have had the pleasure of meeting this young woman a few years back, and I must say... SHE ALWAYS LOOKS GREAT! So when the time came to start a Style spotlight, I knew who I had to reach out to!!
She is one of the most honest, sweetest and goal orientated people I have ever met! Not to mention amazingly stylish as well!

So Ladies and Gents, with out further ado, I would love to introduce to you Ms. Tazia Alexa!

Wednesday May 11th started one of Spring's most fashionable and definitely talked about events.. The Cannes Film Festival! Like every red carpet event, all eyes are on those that grace us with their presence on it, and there are bound to be a few hits and misses as well.

In my opinion, there were a few more misses this year than total hits. Now when I say hits, I mean everything from the hair, the makeup, the shoes and everything else that goes into looking your best on the red carpet.

One of the most important things to know about red carpet looks is really simple to understand. Are you wearing your look, or is your look wearing you?

You can have on the biggest designers name, the most expensive fabric and the most expensive jewels... but if you let your look take the spotlight, I am easily turned off. Not saying that the design looks less appealing or that the person wearing it is either, I just become less fond of the look.

YOU  MUST OWN IT!

No matter how intimidated you may feel, how much stress or chaos is surrounding you, if you take control of the piece and YOU wear it... it is easy to become one of my favorite looks of the night!

With that being said, here are a few of my favorite looks so far this year at the Cannes Film Festival!

PS: I loooove Blake Lively, I think she is one of the most gorgeous women that we have ever seen on the silver screen.. I love her style!
PSS: Check out her bump too! :)

So you know what spring means right?! Colors, colors and colors!! Oh yea and dresses also..
Really when you get to know me I have two zones that I do day to day, all black or mix and match tones :). I love the way vibrant colors pop when paired with either a nude or deep color.

This outfit was one of the easiest color combos ever and one of my faves!

The dress is from Forever21+. I actually think I got it on sale! Either way it was less than $20 at the time I bought it. I was a little worried about the length.. dresses like these are cut strait across and if you have wider hips or bigger rear it tends to hike quite a bit. It may look like a decent length in the front, but trust me.. I was constantly pulling at the back lol

The jacket is Lafayette 148 New York and  I got it at Neiman Marcus. This jacket is super comfy! I love the sleeve length and the color is superb! It's a little hard to tell because of the shotty photos (sorry) but it is a little darker than royal blue. My only complaint is that they didn't have anymore available!

And last but not least my gillies! For some reason I love calling my feet/kids feet/ hubbys feet/ shoes gillies. I seen this movie years ago( i was like 10) the mother became a leprechaun and she called her sons feet gillies hehe... so I say that from time to time. Any way... my shoes are Kenneth Cole. I picked these babies up from the Kenneth Cole store at the Galleria- Dallas. I took me a little while to get used to the heel height since it is much shorter than what I would normally wear. Plus the toe shape is a lot more pointy than I am used to as well. But these shoes are perfect for just about anything.

As you can see by the title, this post is all about Mother's Day and how you can spend it without your husband or with little kiddies that don't have enough loose change for flowers. Of course a simple handmade card would do or an attempt at making you breakfast. But today, as my kids got off the bus, their face grinning from ear to ear, they showed me their amazing gifts they made at school.

So I started thinking...

Ciara in H&M
If you are a living, breathing human being then you know that the annual Met Gala was this past Monday!

This year's theme was "Manus x Machina", which was a futuristic take on fashion. Now normally I am a classic look kinda girl. Drama.. Yes! But you know... nothing to "avant garde".
