Hello lovelies!

So a few weeks ago, I was contacted by this company called Mikasa Beauty and they asked me if I would like to try their products and do a review! Of course (after research) I had to jump on this opportunity!

I love finding and trying new beauty products and of course telling my readers all about them! So to start off, not only were the reviews on the products and company great but they have perks! If you visit their website (Mikasa Beauty) and sign up you will get a code for 10% off! Plus they offered a bonus item at the time (subject to change).

So what do I think?!

First we have the E100, an angled liner brush. When I first opened this brush I was pleased at how light weight it was! Much lighter than several of my other liner brushes. The bristles were extremely soft and the angle was extreme sharp. I used a gel and powder to line my eyes and it worked wonderfully on both! The line was clean and it worked the products out beautifully. I do however wish it was a tad firmer. Not that I think it would change the application process, it is just a personal preference. I will definitely use this as my go to liner brush!

Next we have the F200. This is a full face brush duo fiber finishing brush. This thing is AMAZING! It is super, super soft and seems to not soak up excess foundation. I used my Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless finish liquid foundation. The brushes I used before seemed to require me to use more product. This brush however did the job with less! The handle of the brush was a tad heavy but I don't think it had any negative impact on the use. This is now officially my brush of choice!

Last we have the S100 Lemon Drop. This was also extremely soft and light weight. I'm not too familiar with sponges, but this one worked great. It blended out my contour flawlessly. It is just the right size to get under the eyes and the sides of the nose! I will be using this one definitely!

I apologize for the cloudy picture, my camera had died and lighting was extremely limited! But I hope you will be able to see how nicely my makeup was blended and how clean the line is from the liner brush!

Have you used Mikasa Beauty yet? Let me know what you think about them, my makeup or if you have any questions in the comments below!

2016 was the year of are you kidding me?!

Let me start off by saying, I am always thankful for the things that I have, the things I got through and the fact that I wake up every morning next to my amazing husband, and I have the craziest and sweetest kids ever. But every now and then, so much comes at you where you just have to sit back and say "Are you kidding me?!"

2016 was full of those moments, and to spare you reading time and possible eye fractures.... I will only highlights the biggest moments of 2016...

#1. My husband moves- As you know, around January last year my husband decided to move temporarily move to Kansas City to not only launch his business in a new market but also to be with his oldest daughter. The other kiddos and I had to stay in Dallas because they were in a GREAT school, we had an awesome condo and our life was Dallas. The fact that he was willing to relocate temporarily to be with his oldest and to expand his business to take care of his family is beyond amazing and it is one of the reasons why I love him! But the "are you kidding me?" kicks in a few days later. I was in Dallas, alone, with 3 kids for 6 months! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do! I mean, school pick ups and drop offs, school functions, homework, play dates... I mean that was just for the kids! I felt like a single parent and the level of stress was enough to sprout 2 grey hairs!

#2. Testing-  My sweet little Thai had been going through testing since the beginning of the year. She worked hard everyday! When the results came in, (this may be selfish) but one of my first thoughts was ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I was afraid that I would not be able to help her get over this hump. I was worried she would struggle the rest of her life just trying to understand basic things. I was just in shock and did not know what to do!

#3. Home Schooling- My very first thought was ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! If it wasn't something in Art, English, or something non core related... I sucked! How could I possibly teach my kids something outside of basic common sense.

#4. Relocating pt 2- After all the talks about home school, Thais learning disabilities.... my husband thought it would be best if we all just moved from Dallas to Kansas City.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! My whole life was in Dallas and now everything was changing within a matter of a few months.
*** Bonus positive point*** We would ALL be together for more than a week since the summer before, when Phe spent her summer in Dallas :)

#5. The Accident- Once the decision was finalized that the kids and I would move back to Kansas City... My husband and I made a trip to get some of our things and bring them back. On the way back from Dallas, we had a pretty bad accident that totaled our car. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That would make two accidents in less than 10 months.

Even though 2016 was a year of mostly bad hiccups, there were a few good ones too!

#6. Finding a new place- This one was a fairly easy process, not to much stress, just a simple sign and live kind of deal. We found an amazing loft Downtown with  a killer view! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I love looking out our windows at night and seeing the river and city :)

#7. I joined an awesome network of moms from the Kansas city area and I get to contribute to their blog frequently! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I get to write about the city I live in, write about things I do as a mom, review movies and a whole bunch of other stuff! I love it!!

#8. All my kids together- Even though it is not a frequent as we would all want, we love the fact that we a a whole family and our kids are together!

I am definitely looking forward to the 2017. New goals, new adventures and everything bad that happened in 2016 will be OLD NEWS!!!

How was your 2016? Good? Bad? I would love to hear! Let me know in the comments below :)

It's no secret... I'm a #CurlyGirl!

I love my curly hair.... but at times, I hate all the time, effort and outcome that goes along with having curly hair. It really can be a love/hate relationship!  Everything around me has an effect on my hair, the weather being the main culprit! But thankfully I have found a way to ease my #CurlyGirlProblems!

You may or may not know about my journey through life dealing with my hair, you can read about some of it here!

But...
.. my main purpose was to talk to y'all about this product that I love! Shea Moisture! This has truly been a miracle for my girls' and I hair! It is absolutely my favorite natural hair care product.

So here are a few reasons why!

1. Variety! There are several different collections to choose from and there is something for everyone! My girls and I use the Coconut and Hibiscus the most because it controls the frizzies, defines our curls and leaves it shiny and soft! No matter your hair type, there is something that will be perfect for you!

2. Ingredients- Shea Moisture uses great natural ingredients in ALL of their products! I am a huge coconut supporter and coconut just so happens to be one of the main ingredients!

3. Protection- Shea moisture products have no sulfates, no parabens, no mineral oil, no synthetic fragrances, no synthetic colors and they do not test on animals! To learn more about their ingredients click here!

4. Results- This product delivers EVERY TIME! I have never had a bad experience with Shea Moisture (except when i run out). Oh yea not to mention that it smells AMAZING! Every time I use the coconut and hibiscus line, I get tons of compliments about my curls and the way they smell (kinda weird at first lol)

5. Non Hair essentials- They even have soap, lotion, cosmetics, stuff for dudes and even babies! I mean they really have everything!

I can sit here all day and tell you how much I love this product and this company... but you just have to try it! If you go to their website (www.sheamoisture.com/) you can even take a quick survey to find your perfect products!

Do you use Shea Moisture? What are your favorite products? Let me know in the comments below!

*these are my own opinions. i do not receive any compensation or promotion for sharing this with you.*

Happy December!

Man time really is flying by!It seems like we were just having Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. We have been crazy busy in our house this year and as you may know, we have decided to start homeschooling. (you can read about our decision here.)

As a first time homeschooling family, so many things plague my mind... EVERY DAY! I constantly ask myself "Are they learning?", "Am I teaching them the right things?" "Can I really do this?". Every day I ask myself these questions at least once, and I am being very modest!

The truth is there really is no "one way" to home school, and honestly it will probably take me a few years to really get that burned into my head. I know there are many ways to educate my kids, but when you are trying something so new, so important... you are bound to freak out every once in a while!

SO...

For all my homeschooling readers or those possibly taking the homeschooling route, I want to share with you our 1st year progress, what I thought it was going to be and how it really is!

Our Progress-

So Thai has some learning disabilities which we knew were going to be hard for her to over come. The great thing is, with her getting more one on one time with reading & math and not feeling like she has to "keep up" with other students, she has thrived tremendously! During our reading time, she is comprehending more, engaging in the story and even remembering the context! Thanks to our favorite online curriculum (Moby Max) she is blending words much more easily as well as reading them! Over all, Thai has blossomed into a more confident student!

Baltimore has only been in traditional school for one year (prek) so his transition was a lot easier than his sisters'. Since he was younger, Baltimore would pick things up a lot faster than kids his age. So prek was easy peasy for him! Kindergarten has been the same way. He picks things up easily so I can let him have a little less guided work time.

What I Thought-

I thought we would need to be on a strict schedule in order for them to understand the difference between school and home. I also thought that they were going to need tests, and a ton of curriculum that requires a lot of writing, reading and problem solving.

How It Really Is-

We have a schedule but we start at different times every day. Hey sometimes I have something that needs to be done in the morning or I have a sick kid to attend to. And honestly, sometimes they are so exhausted from the day before they sleep in an extra hour. Once the get up, eat and get situated... it's time for school! We have a layout of subjects, some with times and some only lessons. Once again thanks to Moby Max they are learning at their own pace and not missing anything! We use all forms of learning tools, computers, tablets, printable, games, books and even videos. There really is no wrong way as long as they area learning.

So as we head into our second part of our first year, I'm going to do my best to stay positive and reassure myself that as long as they are learning.... it will be ok!

What does your homeschool routine look like? Have a routine? Suggestions? Let me know in the comments below :)

Hey there! How was your Thanksgiving?! We all know that once the Thanksgiving is over, it's pretty much winter time! And winter time means one thing.... SNOW! Ugh seriously, snow and I have a love/hate relationship.

On one hand, it looks BEAUTIFUL when it's coming down. The pure white blankets makes everything look so bright and clean. Not to mention the smell of fresh snow adds a crispness to the air.

AND...

On the other hand, it's cold, it's wet, it turns icky brown when cars drive through it and.... oh yea it's COLD! lol

When winter time hits, I rarely want to do anything. If I could I would just cuddle up in a blanket with something warm and do nothing! But that is a fantasy world lol.

So when putting together this look, I wanted to make sure that it was something that would be warm, easy to put together but still stylish.

One thing about this look I want to point out is the stackable rings. They are so hot right now! You may be wondering, "why are there rings and no gloves? Isn't this supposed to be a winter look?". Well.... yes it is! But one thing about winter time is that your accessories tend to get over looked. Your scarf is covering your necklace, gloves are covering your rings and hats can cover your earrings. So I wanted to make sure that you were able to see some form of accessories that would fit well with this look. Plus, who says a hat and scarf can't be an accessories!

SO as the temperatures drop, your shopping becomes more demanding and you still want to look great while out and about, try a look like this!

What do you love/hate about winter time? Let me know in the comments below!

Hey there my lovelies! I know it's been a while since I have posted new content but November has been CRAZY!! There has been so much going on. From movie reviews, birthday's, Thanksgiving.... you name it!

I had been planning on doing this post for quite a while now and finally I have done it!

I wanted to share with you all my top 10 everyday, drugstore makeup must haves! These are definitely my essential items that are used for my daily  kind of daily makeup routine!

One great thing about all of these items is that you can find them at any drugstore, Target, Walmart or wherever!

SO.....

Without further ado, her they are!

Drug Store Makeup Must Haves

1.E.L.F blush- I love ELF... when I first decided I wanted to start doing makeup, I asked A LOT of MUA (makeup artists) on Twitter and Instagram what they would recommend for someone just starting out and ELF was always one of their choices. Their blushes are amazingly pigmented and they don't have that chalky feel or look. Also, the price for most ELF products are crazy cheap so they are perfect for everyday looks!

2. Burt's Bees- So this isn't really makeup but it is an ESSENTIAL item to have with you. Burt's Bees is a great lip balm made from bees wax. You don't need a lot to keep your lips moisturized and that is always important when wearing matte lipsticks or in the cooler weather! PLUS they have tinted ones as well!

3. Covergirl Lashblast Super Sizer- This is one of my favorite drugstore mascaras... the wand has different length bristles so it sis perfect for those smaller lashes on top and bottom. It really makes my lashes look longer and fuller.

4. Revlon Color Stay 2-in-1- I totally use this as my contour lol! It is so creamy and blends great! I picked this up one day because my normal pallet that I used for contouring melted! I didn't have time to order a new one (it came in a kit) so I picked this up! It is borderline the exact same color as my pallet. Plus you get foundation and concealer! total score!

5. NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray- Some people prefer a dewy finish but I love matte! This setting spray is so light and you don't need to use a lot... maybe 2 sprays. Once again, the price is crazy cheap and worth more than what you pay!

6. Maybelline FIT me Matte + Poreless- This has become my new obsession! I know it's not new but I recently switched foundations so I thought I would try this! I AM GLAD I DID!!! First let me say this, you will look flawless! It covers blemishes and can either be applied minimally or you can build it up. Also, there are TONS of shades... anyone can find their shade! This is hands down my favorite drugstore foundation!

7.Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips- This product says it is supposed to be used for eyes or a bronzer, but I totally use it as a highlighter! It has just enough "glow" to keep you looking sun kissed.  There are several different shades so you can really play with it.

8. Wet n Wild Bare it All- I KNOW I have talked about this color before. It is one of my favorites! I pair this with some of my higher end lipsticks all the time! It has become a staple in my makeup routine! At less than $2 a tube.... you bet I keep this handy!

9. Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner- This gel liner is legit! It is so workable and the black is probably the blackest gel liner ever! It is great for long lasting drama for sure!

10. Maybelline Blushed Nudes- One thing I'm big on is natural eye looks. It has to be a really special occasion for me to whip out the dramatic shades and super smokey eyes. Nude shadows always give you a fresh look or subtle romantic eyes. This pallet has some of the best romantic blushed nudes I have ever used. very soft, blend-able and pigmented!

What is the hardest thing about Thanksgiving? Yup! All the tempting food, sweets and drinks!

Over the past several years, after I finally did something about my weight and lifestyle.... I never really paid attention to how difficult it would be to go to family gatherings and still maintain my goals. Before, I would just eat like majority of Americans on Thanksgiving. I would just eat all the deliciousness and then go back for more in a few hours.

It wasn't until after my son was born (when I changed my lifestyle) that I began to notice things. There was carbs EVERYWHERE! I would look at the table and there would be 3 different kinds of potatoes, macaroni, stuffing, dinner rolls and more. Now there is nothing wrong with a few carbs, we need s decent amount of them! But it was too much. Then I would look over and see sooo many sweets! If you know me I love chocolate and pastries ugh it's the monkey on my back! But there was always what seemed to be more desserts than there were veggies... at nearly every home we visited. And for the record, no we didn't eat at every home lol. It was just an observation.

The past few years, I would cook Thanksgiving for my husband and kiddos in Dallas and it seemed to be easier! I could make what I wanted and how much I wanted. But since we are back in Kansas City now, Thanksgiving will more than likely be spent with our families. :)

So as I was thinking of our ultimate game plan for this year it hit me. This is something that a lot of people may or may not know! How can we continue to make healthy choices during a time where food is the main attraction? How can someone keep on track and still enjoy their time with family and friends? So I decided to share some of the tricks that were shown to me and some I would do to be healthier during Thanksgiving.

1. Sign up for a 5k or take a special class. One thing that would always keep me focused that Thursday morning was taking a special "Thanksgiving" class! A lot of times trainers at the gym will offer clients classes early in the morning! So check your gym schedule or even have a group of workout buddies request one! There is always some form of a Turkey trot in major cities. I have found that if you start your day off with your goal in mind or on a healthier side, you are more likely to finish it as well!

2. Make a plan! Plan out your week before Thanksgiving by checking with your relatives that are in charge of the menu. It's ok to call and ask what is going to be served (just don't do it rudely). It is good to know before hand what you are going to be dealing with.

Which brings me to...

3. Bring an extra dish. I know this may sound crazy but when you bring more than one item, you will  have an extra option! of course there will be turkey in most homes so you can enjoy some lean meat, but what about sides? Don't get stuck with turkey and one item that you brought. Try bringing two side dishes of your favorite veggies or salad. This will give you the option of having a little more variety on your plate and a lot less temptation.

4. Eat before! I'm not saying eat a whole thanksgiving feast but eating a small healthy snack on your way or right before you leave the house will definitely leave less room for all the foods that were provided.

5. Drink water. Thanksgiving day should be called "How much water can you drink without floating away day" lol. Seriously, try to drink even more water that day. It will help keep you full and temptation on the back burner.

Now drinking... if you love to drink at occasions like this then be mindful of what you are drinking!

6. Don't drink your typical wine or concoction. One thing a lot of people don't realize is that a lot of cocktails and wine are breeding grounds for calories. Instead of that glass of wine or White Russian, try something harder with a twist (lime, orange etc). This will surely cut out extra calories but not the fun!

7. Don't skip dessert! I know huh? If you skip dessert you are more likely to go crazy that night! It's the want but can't have syndrome. One small piece of pie is better than the whole jar of cookies later. If you have a major sweet tooth, then bring ingredients for yourself and others to make their own desserts! A great idea is to make fruit parfaits! Bring a big tray of cut fruit and some vanilla Greek yogurt and go to town! With the protein in Greek yogurt and the fiber in berries, you won't need much!

8. Be more than social! At your family's Thanksgiving do more than talk. Go outside after you eat! Play with the younger kids, get the cousins together for some football or take a nice walk around the neighborhood park. Do anything instead of lounging around waiting for the Thanksgiving night football game!

9. Help clean. Not only is this just a nice thing to do when visiting your family or friends for Thanksgiving, but it will keep you from being idle. Being idle will only make you feel bored and mot of the times when people are bored they "feel hungry" and that can only lead to eating more!

If you have to go back to work on Friday or plan to be out shopping the latest deals, then try this!

10. Keep small snacks and water on you! When you are out shopping and running errands you may forget to eat or you may wait too long between meals. So naturally you are beyond hungry and will tend to eat more if you stop somewhere between store shopping. Same thing if you have to go to work. People may bring in left overs and treats for the office. So keep something on you through out the day that will be satisfying and not leave you hungry or tempted.

I hope these tips will help you during Thanksgiving, or really any time you are facing a "food for all" event! How are you planning to stay on track next week? Let me know in the comments below!

PS: remember, it is always ok to say "no thank you" as well!

Gold,tan and wine

Can you believe it is already November?! I am totally freaking out!I mean Thanksgiving will be here next week, then next thing you know it is is 2017! Ahh this is crazy!

Since I have been back in Kansas City, the weather up here has made me definitely appreciate the Texas weather A LOT more that's for sure. The light jacket weather there definitely seems to be some sort of a fantasy for me at this moment lol. Every time I log into Facebook I see someone else in shorts lol. I mean come on guys I love you but please have some compassion for me!

But hey, one thing I do like about the cold weather.... the clothes! The tend to get a lot cuter and there are more opportunities for accessories! I mean there are scarves, gloves, hats, stockings.. you name it! The cold weather gives us more reasons to add more to our look and I am sooo not against that!

This look is one of my favorite cold weather outfits! I wanted to keep it  chic and classic with the deep reds, cremes and gold. Plus it is so simple to piece together.  Here is a tip, when in doubt , just go solid! Solid colors are the easiest to put together, even if shades are a bit off. You can add more "off shades" to mix up the look. Another thing I love about winter time is the sweaters! Who doesn't love a nice comfy sweater that you can snuggle up in?! I know I do! But back to this look lol. With so many holidays and social gatherings that happen during the "cold months", an outfit like this would be perfect for your social gathering and stressful days... no heels so you can really enjoy your time instead of having aching feet or an aching back, no skirt so if you do want/need to go out and about you don't have to worry about your legs getting dry from excess bursts of cold air... I mean you just feel more cozy and ready for anything!

So..

Now that the sun is setting sooner and the days are getting colder, what's something you have to have to keep warm?! Let me know in the comments below!

As you may or may not know. I had the opportunity to attend an amazing event for a new hair company in Kansas City! Missed it? Check it out here!

As a mom, I rarely get to go all out and get snazzy ,unless I have a big event! So, I wanted to share what I wore that night and where you can get it!

First off let me say this, this outfit was one of the most simple outfits I have ever put together! I wanted to make sure I was dressed appropriately for the event but comfortable as well! Plus, like just about every woman in the world... everything cost less than my shoes! So it was a win :)

1.My top is just a basic white tank with think straps. It is fall  yes I know... but you never know what it will be like in a room full of people! The temp can always fluctuate!

2. My shawl is this beautiful blush pink from Forever 21+ and it is a one size fits all, YES!! I love that lol. This actually kept me pretty warm when outside despite how it looks. The fabric was just thick enough to keep the breeze to a minimum but not be a sweat box either. GET IT HERE!

3. My skirt was actually in the wrong department! This navy Pencil is also from Forever 21 and it is by far one of the best skirts I have wore! It is a cotton blend skirt with an elastic waistline. It really felt like it was there for support if you know what I mean lol! I felt very well "held together"  GET IT HERE!

4. My shoes! I'm pretty sure you have seen me talk about them before, Instagram, Facebook, on the blog.. somewhere lol! But these are one of my favorites! I caught these Yves Saint Laurent beauties on a major sale at Nordstrom!

5. My necklace is another Forever 21 find! I really.. really like this necklace! Not only did it go flawlessly with my outfit but it too was marked down! It was the only one in store and I can not find it online anywhere... but if you want to look for something very similar CHECK THIS ONE OUT!

I hope you enjoyed this little number as well! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

This post is not sponsored in any way and I will not receive any compensation or perks for sharing... I simply want to share what I wore and where you can get it!

PS: I apologize for the pictures being so dark! Daylight Savings time has definitely kicked in!
